SEO isn’t necessarily synonymous with hilarity and comedy, as SEO consultants we know that quite well. However, amongst all that link building, (or link earning as it is more frequently called now) structured data and disavowing there are sometimes a few laughs along the way. We have noticed that it can be a bit of a struggle to find these laughs though.
Due to this we have decided to collect and aggregate some of the best funny SEO jokes, images and quotes for your perusal and, slightly geeky, enjoyment! We are not pretending we are the creators or owners of these images, memes, jokes and quotes, we’ve just been pretty good at finding them. Everything that we find that can be attributed will be. Are you ready for your sides to split? (Metaphorically speaking of course)
Funny SEO Images & Memes
This has to be our single favourite collection of funny SEO images/memes on the whole darn internet. An absolute genius has decided to mix photos of the indomitable (and dashingly good looking) Ryan Gosling with SEO jokes and some risqué SEO innuendos. Due to this highly unlikely, and surprisingly funny, combination seoryangosling.tumblr.com was born (which, in our opinion, is the best thing to happen to Tumblr since trextrying.tumblr.com).

Now, some of these are horrifically cheesy but nonetheless they gave us a giggle and we hope they do the same for you too! Some are SEO jokes that are simple plays on words whilst others focus on far more technical aspects.

Top 5 SEO Quotes
“…The objective is not to “make your links appear natural”; the objective is that your links are natural.”
To us this is one of the eternal SEO quotes and pieces of advice. Just like designing a site for Google rather than people, building links to your site rather than earning them with great content isn’t the right way to go about it. Forget link building and think about link earning!
“Google only loves you when everyone loves you first.”
Following on in the same vein as the previous SEO quote this one from Wendy Piersall further reinforces the fact that designing for Google is a fool’s errand. Ensure your site is designed well for people and provides them with useful content and information and the Google love will follow.
“Good SEO work only gets better over time. It’s only search engine tricks that need to keep changing when the ranking algorithms change”
Herein lies one of THE main differences between white hat and black hat SEO. Black hat SEO may get those rankings you so crave quickly, but what happens when the algorithm change is implemented and your site drops off the face of the earth? When it comes to white hat SEO all changes that are made are beneficial now and almost always will be. Results may be much slower to appear but they will be far longer lasting.
“SEO is fundamentally a set of methodologies that make it easier for search engines to find, include, categorize and rank your web content.”
This is a fact that many clients and individuals struggle with. Almost always, big changes need to be made to a site to help it start pulling in traffic. Although this can often be difficult for the website owner to deal with it is invariably necessary and the only way that their site will start seeing the results they want it to.
“Websites don’t link to other websites. People point to other people’s work.”
This is another truth, this time of one of the biggest aspects of SEO, link building or earning. When hunting for sites that would appreciate, and host, your high quality content it is far too easy to put on your analytical and technical hat. What you can’t forget is the fact that behind those high authority sites is, at the minimum, a webmaster that has poured their blood, sweat and tears into making the site what it is. That’s why when you send a half finished piece of dross to them it will be rejected. This is also why even when you send them a lovingly crafted, exceptionally high quality piece of content it may also be rejected if you solicit them out of the blue. Become active on their site, add value for nothing by leaving thoughtful, informed and useful comments, tweet them or write on their Facebook fan page, do anything to make yourself heard and make what is being heard brilliant and then ask them if they would like to share your content and see what happens.
